Family Works Services
While each Family Works region delivers its own unique blend of child and family services, there are five core services that provide a national framework for service delivery:
Development Programmes for children/tamariki and young people/rangatahi
Programmes that challenge, support and extend children/tamariki and young people/rangatahi to make good choices for themselves, allowing them to build positive relationships within their family/whanau, schools, peers and wider community.
Social Work Support and Counselling for children/tamariki and their families/whanau who are facing significant challenges.
Services that help families/whanau build the necessary supports and strengths to deal with complex challenges around parenting and family/whanau circumstances so that their children/tamariki flourish and family/whanau relationships thrive.
Parenting Programmes
Programmes that help parents overcome past parenting practices, which may have caused challenges for their children/tamariki and family/whanau. Adults in a parenting or care-giving relationship develop parenting techniques and alternatives that support them to bring about the best outcome for their children/tamariki.
Group Learning Programmes
Programmes that develop techniques and alternatives that support people to address complex personal challenges that may compromise their ability to ensure the safety of their children/tamariki, or which prevent their children/tamariki from flourishing.
Localised Community Development Initiatives
Initiatives developed in response to community needs, in partnership with community, other agencies and local/national government.
