Upper South Island: Parenting
Do your kids sometimes make you feel like your head is going to explode? Have you ever yelled until you were hoarse? Do you ever have days when all you feel like doing is making a run for it? Why is it so hard to be the parent you thought you would be?
Family Works recognises that parenting is one of the most difficult jobs you will ever undertake. For harassed parents struggling to understand why they end up screaming at their kids and tearing their hair out, we offer programmes to help you develop a range of practical skills and strategies for communicating with your children or teenagers.
Parenting courses focus on:
- Anger awareness
- Practical parenting to enhance your range of skills
- Understanding and caring for teenagers
- Feeling confident about yourself in your parenting role
- Dealing with the effects of violence
- Parenting styles and the likely effects on children
