A Programme for Children and their Families

 

AIM OF THE PROGRAMME

For parents/caregivers and children to learn healthy and positive ways of dealing with their feelings, particularly anger.


 

WHO IS THE PROGRAMME FOR?

  • Children who are having difficulties expressing their feelings, particularly anger.

  • The programme caters for primary school children, aged 7-10 years.

  • If a child is to attend the programme, then at least one of the child's parents/caregivers needs to also attend with the child.

 

THE PROGRAMME

  • The programme runs from 9.30 to 11.30am, one day during the week.

  • The programme runs during terms two and three of the school year, for eight weeks.

  • There are eight sessions for children and parents/caregivers together and two extra evening sessions for parents/caregivers on their own.

  • Each programme accepts a maximum of eight children.

 

TEMPER TAMERS AND THE SCHOOL

  • School approval is sought for a child's attendance and some school participation is also required.

  • At the beginning of the term in which the programme starts, we run an information session for teachers and/or principals about the programme.
