Family Works South Canterbury

Family Works is the name being adopted by Presbyterian Support South Canterbury as the service brand for its community child and family services.

In adopting the Family Works name, we at Presbyterian Support South Canterbury are continuing with our long standing heritage and our local strengths. We remain proud of the work we have done, and ever mindful of our commitments to our clients, past as well as present.

Family Works services is about empowering communities, families/whanau to help themselves as they face the inevitable challenges of family life, and working in partnership with them so they can flourish to reach their full potential. And, we work from the values that:

• We all need support at some stage in our lives
• Strong, self-sufficient families are the best places to grow happy and healthy children
• The family is the backbone of each and every community
• The strength of each community are the people
   

We continue to offer the same services we always have – but now also have the opportunity to add additional services where necessary and be even more responsive to local needs.

In Timaru Presbyterian Support South Canterbury has it's Family Work centre at 26 North Street, Timaru and delivers services tailored to meet local community needs.

Social Workers and Counsellors

Social Workers and Counsellors are available during normal office hours (8:30am - 5:00pm).  When the office is closed, the telephone displays an after hours message stating 'to leave a non urgent message for Family Works press 0 or for emergency counselling phone Lifeline on 0800 543 354.

Fees

To enable us to assist as many people as possible, we have the following scale of fees:

Fees may be subsidised where (full) payment would cause difficulty.

There is no charge to the client for Parenting Programmes, GAIN or for the Afterwards Programmes for children.
