Family Works Otago

Getting to Know Family Works

At Family Works we believe that every child/tamariki and family/whanau deserves a decent chance; that every family has strengths but now and again needs help; that every family will flourish when helped to build upon their strengths; and that New Zealand will be better off when children are raised in flourishing families.

Flax

"Tear out the heart of the flax, where will the Bellbird sit. Ask me what is the most important thing in the world, I will tell you – it is people, it is people, it is people."

"Hutia te rito o te harakeke, kei whea te Komako e ko. Ki mai ki ahau, he aha te mea nui o to Ao, maku e ki atu – he tangata, he tangata, he tangata."

At the core of Family Works is the understanding that family life can be challenging, no matter what experience and resources a family has. Family Works’ underlying philosophy is that strong, self-sufficient families are the best places to grow happy and healthy children and that the family is the backbone of each and every community.
