Family Works Centre, Upper Hutt

The Family Works Centre in Upper Hutt (previously known as the Upper Hutt Family Support Centre),  provide a range of services for the Upper Hutt Community.

Empowering families through understanding, education and support. We believe families are the basis of strong, caring and healthy communities.  We work with adults, young people, children, couples,
families and groups.

Services we offer include:

• Individual and Family Counselling
• ACC Sexual Abuse Counselling
• Parent Education and Support
• Community Support Groups
• Employee Assistance Programmes
• The Exchange Network
• Family Court Counselling

Specific services and programmes that currently run at Family Works in Upper Hutt include:

Growing Together – an eight-week parent education and support programme designed for individuals and/or groups offering practical education and support .

Fathers’ Education – programme that provides a place for fathers to explore and share their parenting experiences while offering practical education and support.

Parenting in a Blended Family – a group programme for parents and step parents of blended families (families where one or both partners have children from a previous relationship). Participants explore their experience of being in a blended family and identify practical strategies to take home and use.

New Settler Women’s Group – a social support group open to all refugee and migrant women and their children withinthe wider Hutt Valley region. We meet weekly over the school term, sharing skills, inspiration and practical learning across all ages.

The Exchange Network – a network of local services, agencies or organisations that actively collaborate in providing social services for individuals, families and groups within the Upper Hutt community.
