Counselling and Social Work
Presbyterian Support Central offers a range of counselling and social work support for children/tamariki, young people/rangatahi and families/whanau who are facing complex challenges.
Counselling:
We provide counselling for children, young people and their families to assist family members explore and address difficulties and concerns.
This could include helping you to:

explore emotions, thoughts and behaviour

become more aware of yourself, your values and what motivates you
-
plan and set goals
-
improve your relationships
-
reduce stress
-
develop your sense of well-being
-
do things differently.
We have experienced staff who will listen and help you explore your thoughts and feelings, then support you in making choices. We can help with:
Sessions are usually charged at an hourly rate. Financial assistance is often available. Talk to us to find out more.
Social Work:
Our Family Works Centres offer friendly and professional support towards meeting the needs of individuals, families, youth, children and the community. We encourage a spirit of partnership where whanau and individuals can work with our staff to have their needs met. We aim to advance the wellbeing of children, individuals and their families within our local communities.
Social work support includes:

assisting people to attain the services they need, including advocating on people’s behalf

talking with people and helping them to address/resolve issues

linking and/or reconnecting people with appropriate and relevant family/community resources and support networks
-
using appropriate legislation to protect vulnerable members of society
